The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the Ministry of High Education and Research of the Republic of Togo, and the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 organize this event with the theme “Teaching: A Profession”.

The fourth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal is to achieve a “quality education” (UNDP, s.f.). To achieve this goal, it is necessary the professionalization and training of teachers, so they become qualified teachers with enough skills to help their students obtain the fundamental tools for the 21st. Century.

During the meeting, the participants will discuss about: the current state of teaching and how to formalize it as a profession; good practices in teaching; promotion of collaborative networks to report the implementation and monitoring of the fourth Sustainable Development Objective; etc.

About 350 educators, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, researchers and others will participate in this event. Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa, member of Connections: The Learning Sciences Platform will participate in this event.
